Vembu Backup for VMware vSphere

Requirements to Install Vembu Backup:

Before to do a deployment we highly recommend to use the next guide:

  1. First Part: Installation Vembu Backup Server

    1. Run as administrator the installer file.

    2. Click Next to Continue

    3. Read the License Agreement, check the Accept terms and then Click Next to Continue

    4. You can select Standalone or Cluster; We highly recommend Cluster Installation for production environments; the click to Next.

    5. Select a Folder for your installation; we recommend a separated partition different to OS partition to install de BDRSuite; then click to Next.

    6. In this part, select a Storage Location for PostgreSQL database; We highly recommend to use a separated partition of the OS. Then click Next to continue.

    7. In this part, you can Customize the Web Console Username, password, web server port and backup port. Then click Install to start the installation process.

    8. Review the installing process until finish.

    9. Check like is showed below and then click Finish.

    Second Part: First Login to Vembu BDR Suite

    1. Enter Username and Password and then click to Sign In.

    2. Careful read the Information in Getting Started Section.

    Third Part: Add VMware vCenter Server

    1. Go to: Datas Sources -> ESXi & vCenter Server.

    2. Enter vCenter Server IP Address and Credential for VMware vCenter Server.

    3. Enter the information for VMware vCenter Server Connection.

    4. Click Save to add the vCenter Server Information.

    5. Click Save to add the vCenter Server Information.

    6. Create a Job Backup enter Job Name, Repository Type, Repository Name and Job Description.

    7. Refer to Vembu documentation above to get a complete list of the backup repositories.

    8. Click confirm to continue with the backup process.

    9. Now check the information for Backup Name a Repository details.

    10. Select VM or VMs to take backup.

    11. Validate virtual disk exclusions for VMs or VM.

    12. Check the Guest Processing.

    13. Schedule the backup according with Backup Policy.

    14. Confirm the Backup Job

    15. Check the tasks in VMware vCenter Server

    16. Review the backup process

    17. Then validate that the backup job is complete successfull.
